What’s the story behind Maoz?2020-07-20T16:05:54+00:00

The Maoz story begins back in 1991 when the first restaurant was opened in Amsterdam, Holland. Soon enough the place turned into a magnet for curious locals and world travelers who just couldn’t get enough of this fresh new concept. Maoz Vegetarian quickly grew to become a global brand with branches opening up throughout major cities around the world. In 2004, Maoz Vegetarian made its North American launch in Philadelphia followed by New York City and additional locations nationwide.

What does the name Maoz mean?2020-07-20T16:06:39+00:00

The origin of the word Maoz comes from the term for courage or strength. Our no-nonsense vegetarian menu, fun experience and satisfying food are a source of strength for anyone who’s ever had a bite of Maoz. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll know what a power filled meal tastes like.

What is a Maoz Falafel Sandwich?2020-07-20T16:07:23+00:00

Our signature product, the Maoz Falafel Sandwich, is a freshly baked pita bread pocket (whole-wheat or white) filled with crispy handmade falafel balls and topped with salads and sauces such as salsa (red or green), tahini, garlic, or tzatziki – each prepared daily. This sandwich is guaranteed to leave you with a long lasting feeling of joy and satisfaction.

So, what is falafel?2020-07-20T16:09:17+00:00

Our falafel is made out of chickpeas ground with fresh vegetables, herbs and a special blend of spices we call “The Maoz Magic Powder”. This unique mixture is then shaped into little balls and quickly fried in zero trans-fat vegetable oil, poured fresh every day. With an uncompromising commitment to freshness, we make sure to prepare our falafel balls for every order. And by the way, our falafel is gluten-free!

What are the health benefits of chickpeas?2020-07-20T16:10:07+00:00

Chickpeas are our number one ingredient. They are a super healthy legume, packed with plenty of proteins, minerals and vitamin B. They are also a great source of cholesterol-lowering fiber, antioxidants, iron, phosphorus, folate and zinc. To top that, the high fiber content in chickpeas helps maintain blood sugar levels after eating. We consider them almost magical. They also taste really good. What can we say? We love them.

What’s the secret behind Maoz salads?2020-07-20T16:10:51+00:00

All of the Maoz signature salads and sauces are prepared according to original recipes which have been perfected over the years. Our salads are made fresh daily, preserving the taste and health benefits. We make an effort to buy our produce from local farms, carefully handpicking only superior quality and fresh products. Our famous salad bar is an appetizing display of colors, spices and zesty flavors!
